Multiple organisations

A client with multiple entities, foundations or tenants

A holding company with three operating companies, each with its own records in HR. An education foundation with ten schools. A client that has taken over a competitor and now has two tenants. For an MSP, that is where account management gets complicated. In Joinly you put it side by side in one environment.

The short answer

If a client has multiple legal entities, foundations or tenants, Joinly lets you connect several HR environments, Microsoft 365 tenants and Active Directory domains side by side within one client environment. Roles can differ per organisation or be shared, and an employee who moves to another entity is handled as a role change: new access added, old access removed.

One client, multiple organisations

On paper it is one client. In practice it is several employers, each with its own HR records, sometimes its own tenant or domain, and its own rules on who can access what. Anyone managing that by hand keeps several ways of working going side by side.

Multiple sources and targets side by side

In Joinly you connect several HR environments, Microsoft 365 tenants and Active Directory domains side by side. Each employee comes from the HR environment where they are employed, and gets their account in the tenant or domain that goes with it.

Roles can differ per organisation, per school for example, or be shared, such as a role for all managers across the whole group. You manage it as one client, with one audit log.

From one entity to another

If someone moves to another operating company, Joinly handles it as a role change. The access of the new organisation is added, that of the old one is removed, and the audit log shows when and why.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can Joinly manage multiple Microsoft 365 tenants for one client?

Yes. Multiple tenants, Active Directory domains and HR environments can sit side by side, also when the organisation consists of several foundations or legal entities.

  • Can each entity have its own HR system?

Yes. Joinly supports multiple HR sources at the same time.

  • What happens when an employee moves to another entity?

It works like a role change: the access of the new organisation is added and that of the old one is removed.

  • Can roles be shared across the organisations?

Yes. A role can apply to one organisation or to the whole group, for example to all managers.
